The Trim boards around the chimney were decaying and the unseen damage could have been worse.
The customer wanted to put off the repairs to a later time. After explaining the pro's and con's of waiting, he decided it would be more economical to make the repairs then to wait until the chimney would have to be completely rebuilt and the ceiling repaired.

After removing the cap and trim boards, we found the ridge boards were rotting and water damage to the sheeting. There were signs of critters that were storing their nuts in the siding. We were able to save the customer hundreds of dollars by doing the repairs before the chimney framing started to rot.
